Sculpture
Creation Itself
Medium: Cast bronze, steel
Size: 12x5x7"
Date: 2012
Another exploration into the circularity of creation, this time focusing on topography and how it both encourages the life within it to change (such as the hyper differentiated Birds of Paradise in Papua New Guinea, Darwin's Finches, etc) and is itself changed by erosion over years. The carvings on the hand are intended to represent various topography. The style of mountain represented here is very common in Hawaii, where I spent the most time looking at/thinking about the creation of topography.
